Let’s Dance

  Almost thirty-six years years ago I made the first of many sounds. About twelve and a half years or so ago I gave birth to a baby boy. I became an accomplished hula hooper seven years past. The ninth of September in the year twenty-thirteen I established my first blog post. Nearly five years ago I allowed my heart to be hardened for the last time, adopted two kittens and joined Instagram. Roughly three years ago I learned how to breathe. Two years ago I published a book, found inner peace, and kept putting myself out there. New Years Day twenty-eighteen I was taught how to walk and by last summer I was learning how to play. This year I say, let’s dance, and perhaps even sing!

I love this quote from primal trance-dance urban shaman Gabrielle Roth who says;

“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: “When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence? Where we stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves.”  ― Gabrielle Roth

   During this creative restoration I had allowed myself to be plunged into healing cycles. My focus had been unveiling roots of shame and anger. No longer giving the past power, today my locus has shifted to nurturing love and sharing joy. It’s good to be here now. Maybe I’ll write a song and sing it to you while we all stir from a sway into a movement. Let’s dance!
